The Friday Review

resized_happy_naturals_argan_group

Hello Lovely Readers!

It’s time for another Friday Review this one featuring Happy Naturals a brand exclusively sold in Sainsburys (sorry international readers this one is UK only at the moment).  All of their products are free from parabens, sodium laureth sulphate & mineral oils and they have two ranges to choose from – Argan Oil or Sea Minerals.

027

I decided to opt for an Argan Oil product first and purchased the Hand Cream.  Firstly this smells incredible, I literally want to keep smelling my hands.  Secondly it sinks in within seconds, the reason I normally avoid hand creams is I always seem to get the ones that just remain on your hands so this is brilliant.  It leaves my hands so smooth and really moisturizes them.  My hands are incredibly dry so its nice to put this on before bed and wake up in the morning to soft hydrated skin.  Also unlike other hand creams it doesn’t just mask the problem of dryness it helps to get rid of it.

032

I will definitely be heading to my nearest Sainsburys to try more from the Argan Oil range and to try the Sea Minerals range too.  The Hand Cream is £3.50 from Sainsburys online and in store.

Dupe Day

022

Hello Lovely Readers!

Welcome to another Dupe Day, the day when I find a drugstore dupe for a high end product.  This week I have the W7 In The Buff Natural Nudes Eye Colour Palette featuring 12 shades in Buff, Camel, Sand, Dust, Chocolate, Topaz, Earth, Storm, Silk, Wave, Thunder & Onyx.  A couple of the shades didn’t photograph well but I promise there are all 12 above.  I purchased this from Amazon for the very reasonable price of £4.47 and I think it’s a great dupe for….

Urban_Decay_Naked_2_Palette_1390905344

The Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette.  This again features 12 shades, although a couple of them are different to the W7 Palette.  I still think however that the W7 is a great dupe if you don’t want to invest in the Naked 2.  This is available from Urban Decay for £38.00.

Blogger Beauty Box January 2016

001

I discovered the Blogger Beauty Box through Twitter.  A beauty subscription box I had not yet tried – I was all over that!  Originally started by Vicky from VixMeldrew, Vicky sources the products, manufactures the boxes and posts them out.  She currently makes between 30-50 a month so I felt very special to be able to get my hands on one of these.  To order your very own for February go to http://www.bloggerbeautybox.com/ but be quick!

005So this was my first month and I was very excited to open my box.  The first thing that struck me was great sized samples!  I got 5 products and all from brands I hadn’t tried before.  Firstly I got the MooGoo How Now Brown Cow Gradual Tanning Cream (200g).  I have heard of this brand before and was intrigued by it so I’m excited to use this when it gets a bit warmer.  I then got the Anubis Red Fruit Cream (20ml).  I’ve not heard of Anubis before but the cream smells gorgeous (fruity as you can imagine) so I will definitely use this.  I got two of the I Love Cosmetics bubble baths and shower cremes (100ml each) in Raspberry & Blackberry and Mango & Papaya.  I’ve seen this brand before in Superdrug and long wanted to try it so another winner.  Finally I got an MUA Intense Colour Lip Liner in Softly Lined.  It’s a lovely light pink so perfect for me and a great introduction to the brand.

010

The box cost £10 total including postage and I found this to be incredibly good value for the contents I received.  I just need to get my skates on and order February’s box before they all sell out now!

The Friday Review

lottie

Hello Lovely Readers!

You can’t miss Lottie London’s bright and colourful packaging, it’s made to stand out and it does it’s job well.  Originally exclusive to Superdrug, it’s now also available from Asos.  With a range including brushes, nail polishes & accessories and most products under £10 they are exactly my kind of brand so I decided to give them a try.

004

The Balm Balls really caught my eye as they have similar packaging to the Eos balms.  I picked up two in Strawberry Shortcake and Caramel Apple.  There is also a third fragrance available in Cherry Pie.

005

Having tested out both I have to say my personal favourite is the Strawberry Shortcake purely because I found the fragrance of the Caramel Apple a little too sweet.  I would apply this in the morning and a few hours later my lips would still feel dewy and nicely moisturized.  Even after eating my lips still retained their softness  and didn’t feel dry at all.  The fact that the packaging is so adorably cute just encourages me to use them even more.  It’s also great to pop in my handbag and easy to find in there due to the shape (I carry a lot in my bag – Mary Poppins eat your heart out!)

011

The Lottie London Balm Balls in Strawberry Shortcake, Caramel Apple and Cherry Pie are available from Superdrug for £4.99 each.

Dupe Day

023

Hello Lovely Readers!

Welcome to Dupe Day, the day when I bring you a Drugstore dupe for a high end product.  Today I have the Sleek Face Form Contouring & Blush Palette featuring a contour powder, a highlighter and a blush.  As you can see from the swatches these are gorgeous shades.  I got the palette in fair as I am quite porcelain (I prefer that to pale!) in skin colour.  This palette is available from Superdrug for £9.99 and I think it’s a great dupe for…..

Urban_Decay_Strip_Naked_Flushed_Compact_1401452221

The Urban Decay Naked Flushed palette.  This features incredibly similar colours to the Sleek palette and again has a highlighter, blush and this time a bronzer (although you could use that to contour with).  The Naked Flushed is available from Urban Decay for £22.50.

Boots Haul

002.JPG

Hello Lovely Readers!

So I popped into Boots the other day, not really planning on buying anything just to look around and see what was new.  Well you can imagine what happened, one thing after another went into my basket (Boots you temptress you!)  I did get some really nice bits to show you though and plenty for me to play with.

011

I got a couple of Sleek palettes, the eye and cheek in All Day Soiree and the highlighting in Precious Metals.  I also picked up the Matte Me lip cream in Birthday Suit.  I just got one item from the NYX counter (I know I restrained myself!) the Wonder Pencil in light which is supposed to be a concealer, eye brightener & reverse lip liner in one – can’t wait to test that out.

008

On to lip products I picked up 3 of the L’Oreal color riche exclusive collection in Julianne’s Nude, Liya’s Red and Eva’s Nude.  These are gorgeous colours so I think I’ll be getting more of these.  To set these bad boys I got the Bourjois Poudre De Riz De Java a cult classic from 1879 (now that’s what I call staying power!)

017

Finally on to nails I picked up 2 Essie polishes in Ballet Slippers & Sole Mate and then two from Bourjois.  The La Laque in Chair et tendre and the 1 Seconde gel in Palm Peach.

The Friday Review

dirty+works

Hello Lovely Readers!

Welcome to my first Friday Review.  Dirty Works are a born and bred British brand stocked in most Sainsburys stores (which is how I came across them).  For those of you in the States check out TJ Maxx or Marshalls, in Australia Coles & Target and in Canada Marshalls, Winners & Homegoods.  The first of their products I decided to try was The Big Chillout Bath Soak.

028

I have to say this was a real treat after a long day.  It has a lovely smell to it like baby powder or fabric softener – very comforting.  I definitely felt the soothing muscle soak as it was so relaxing and with the chamomile and lavender as well I felt very calm and sleepy – this is great to use before bed.

001

It also produces a pleasing amount of bubbles and at only £2.50 it’s well worth the price.  Available from Sainsburys online and in store.
