Dupe Day

023

Hello Lovely Readers!

Welcome to Dupe Day, the day when I bring you a Drugstore dupe for a high end product.  Today I have the Sleek Face Form Contouring & Blush Palette featuring a contour powder, a highlighter and a blush.  As you can see from the swatches these are gorgeous shades.  I got the palette in fair as I am quite porcelain (I prefer that to pale!) in skin colour.  This palette is available from Superdrug for £9.99 and I think it’s a great dupe for…..

Urban_Decay_Strip_Naked_Flushed_Compact_1401452221

The Urban Decay Naked Flushed palette.  This features incredibly similar colours to the Sleek palette and again has a highlighter, blush and this time a bronzer (although you could use that to contour with).  The Naked Flushed is available from Urban Decay for £22.50.

Boots Haul

002.JPG

Hello Lovely Readers!

So I popped into Boots the other day, not really planning on buying anything just to look around and see what was new.  Well you can imagine what happened, one thing after another went into my basket (Boots you temptress you!)  I did get some really nice bits to show you though and plenty for me to play with.

011

I got a couple of Sleek palettes, the eye and cheek in All Day Soiree and the highlighting in Precious Metals.  I also picked up the Matte Me lip cream in Birthday Suit.  I just got one item from the NYX counter (I know I restrained myself!) the Wonder Pencil in light which is supposed to be a concealer, eye brightener & reverse lip liner in one – can’t wait to test that out.

008

On to lip products I picked up 3 of the L’Oreal color riche exclusive collection in Julianne’s Nude, Liya’s Red and Eva’s Nude.  These are gorgeous colours so I think I’ll be getting more of these.  To set these bad boys I got the Bourjois Poudre De Riz De Java a cult classic from 1879 (now that’s what I call staying power!)

017

Finally on to nails I picked up 2 Essie polishes in Ballet Slippers & Sole Mate and then two from Bourjois.  The La Laque in Chair et tendre and the 1 Seconde gel in Palm Peach.

The Friday Review

dirty+works

Hello Lovely Readers!

Welcome to my first Friday Review.  Dirty Works are a born and bred British brand stocked in most Sainsburys stores (which is how I came across them).  For those of you in the States check out TJ Maxx or Marshalls, in Australia Coles & Target and in Canada Marshalls, Winners & Homegoods.  The first of their products I decided to try was The Big Chillout Bath Soak.

028

I have to say this was a real treat after a long day.  It has a lovely smell to it like baby powder or fabric softener – very comforting.  I definitely felt the soothing muscle soak as it was so relaxing and with the chamomile and lavender as well I felt very calm and sleepy – this is great to use before bed.

001

It also produces a pleasing amount of bubbles and at only £2.50 it’s well worth the price.  Available from Sainsburys online and in store.

Top 5 Brands to try in 2016

top 5 brands to try in 2016

Hello Lovely Readers!

This post is a collaboration with four other lovely bloggers who I got to know recently via Twitter.  We are all newbies and just starting out so we have banded together and started our own little group to support each other. Please check out Demi at http://www.denbraberbeauty.blogspot.co.uk, Elizabeth at http://www.diaryofagirl10.blogspot.co.uk, Claudia at http://www.maximalista.co.uk and Emma (Frenchy) at http://www.frenchysfancies.com

11_21_13_Cheeky_1

So on to brands I would love to try in 2016, the first up is Cheeky.  I found this brand when scrolling through Asos.  They hail from East London and are from the brains behind Cowshed.  Their range is extensive featuring bath and body, hair care, cosmetics and nail paints.  I can’t wait to place my first order!

Next up is Milkshake Hair Care, a salon brand that my hairdresser recommended to me but I am yet to try.  Their hair products are made with milk protein and they have a full range including shampoo, conditioner, intensive hair treatments and hair styling products.

Ciate is a brand that I’ve heard many people talk about but I’ve never taken the plunge and actually tried myself.  Started in 2009 by Charlotte Knight, Ciate has many celeb fans including Kylie Jenner and Blake Lively.   I have to say their collection with Olivia Palermo has really caught my eye and I will definitely be purchasing a piece or two sooner rather than later.

I first found Freshly Baked London on Twitter as they were using the bblogger hashtag.  The one thing that puts me off fake tan is the smell so the idea of different scented ones to try sounds great.  They only use natural and organic ingredients and there are so many fantastic scents to choose from – Amaretto, Vanilla Cream and Sweet Coconut to name a few!

277-3002836-POWDFOUNDATION_ALABASTER_M

Paul & Joe is another brand I discovered during my Asos scrolling .  It was launched in 2002 by Sophie Mechaly following the success of her fashion line of the same name.  The packaging is absolutely adorable and very whimsical.  It would definitely look right at home on my dressing table.

I hope you enjoyed my top 5 brands to try in 2016.  What are the brands you would like to try this year?

Christina Loves….

my favourite things

Hello Lovely Readers!

I thought as this is a fairly new blog I would do a getting to know me post so you could find out a bit more about me.  Without further ado here are a few of my favourite things….

022

New York

New York is my favourite city (that I have visited so far anyway!)  I have been lucky enough to visit many times as I have friends who live in the states.  Whether we have done the tourist thing or been to a Broadway show or just shopped it’s all been amazing and if you have the chance to go I thoroughly recommend it!

8d2c348b68cf_zps44a31108

Shoes

I have a slight addiction to shoes, I just think they can dress up any outfit.  I have quite a lot (not as many as the pic though!) but I’m yet to invest in a really expensive pair – maybe one day.

001

Vintage

I love all things vintage and like collecting vintage pieces whether it be china or jewellery.  I have a couple of jewellery items from the 1920s and I love to think about who may have worn them before me.

To Kill a Mockingbird

To Kill a Mockingbird has been my favourite book since I read it at school when I was around 13.  I still have that copy too so it’s just over 10 years old now – it’s pretty well worn as you can imagine!

028

Lipstick

If you asked me what my must have make up item was it would have to be lipstick.  I think a swipe of lipstick can make you feel better on even the most rubbish of days.

Rabbit-Photo-Wallpaper-02

Rabbits

I have two rabbits who are my furbabies.  Howard who is a Lionhead and is 6 and Thumper who is a Dwarf Lop and is 4.  They are both total cuties and have their own personalities.

024

Handbags

Yes to go with my shoe addiction I love handbags as well!  I am a real sucker for a nice bag and this is my latest favourite.  It’s a DKNY pink crossbody with rose gold hardware that I got in the January sales.

I hope you enjoyed this getting to know me post.  If you would like to see more like this let me know!

Genius Beauty Hacks

These hacks will either save you time or improve your look (or possibly both!)  Read on for some you may know and some you may not.

Longer Lashes without Extensions

Apply a light dusting of baby powder to your lashes with a cotton bud in between mascara applications and you’ll have longer, thicker lashes (a la Kylie Jenner) in a flash.

Make Lipstick Last All Day

After applying your lip colour hold a tissue over your lips and dust them with translucent powder to set your lipstick as matte and make it stay all day.

Make your hair look Thicker

Dust an eye shadow (in the same colour family as your hair) along your parting to shade your scalp slightly and make your hair appear thicker both in photos and real life.

Revive Dry Mascara

You should only keep mascara for 3 months but if it dries up during that time add a few drops of contact lense (saline) solution to revive it.

Curl Lashes Easier

Blowing some hot air from your hairdryer on to your eyelash curler will help lashes curl easier and stay curled for longer.  Allow the curlers to warm up and then wait for them to cool slightly (but still remain somewhat warm) before using them as normal.

Make Fragrance Last Longer

Applying a small amount of vaseline to your pulse points before applying your fragrance will make it stay on your skin longer.

Remove Glitter Polish Easily

Mix some pva glue and a little water together and apply to your nails as a base coat.  Once dry apply your glitter polish as normal and then when you are ready to remove it will just peel right off.

January 2016 Goals

1936808_10204348617070129_2364799776183901700_n

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope you all had a great start to the year yesterday.  I love setting myself new targets and goals in January for the year and this year I have already come up with quite a few.  These cover both my blog and personal goals.

Blog

As some of you know I only started Beauty Bound in December 2015 so I’m still a new blogger.  I would love to increase my followers on Bloglovin, Twitter and Instagram as I’m currently under 50 on all of them.  I’m going to continue posting on the blog every other day and work towards always improving it wherever I can.

Fitness

I would really like to improve my fitness this year.  I have started a program that combines weights and cardio so I hope that this will also help me with some weight loss.  I think I will do a monthly post with my fitness/weight loss progress so keep your eyes peeled for those.

Kindness

I’m great at being kind to other people but I’m not always the best at being kind to myself.  I am my worst critic so I’d like to work on that and remember I’m a pretty good person.

Friends

I would like to make more time to see my friends this year as it’s so easy to let the weeks go by without seeing each other and it’s always so nice to catch up.

Career

I hope to find a job working with animals this year as I’m a huge animal lover.  I’ve applied for some receptionist jobs at Veterinary Surgeries so keep your fingers crossed for me!

Have you got any goals or targets for 2016?  I’d love to hear what they are.
